All UG programs at IARI to be discontinued from academic session 2025-26
IARI has sent the notification to all the concerned centers to discontinue the UG courses except IARI-Assam & IARI-Jharkhand on 30th July . IARI launched the UG courses at ICAR research centers two years ago under academic hub model under the leadership of former Agri Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, an initiative to establish an off campus IARI center.
Objection by Chouhan
Shivraj Singh Chouhan showed the dissatisfaction for the ongoing UG courses at ICAR institutes through the academic hub model at ICAR AGM model in June, as he believes UG courses are hindering the ongoing research at these institutes as scientists gets engaged in these educational activities rather doing the research work.
Chouhan objected the decision taken by former Agri minister Narendra Singh Tomar who had given the approval for it.
Continuation of current batches and new research initiatives
Until all the students of the current batches gets their degree they are going to continue their program and are not going to be affected by the decision taken by the authority and will be assessed regularly by the authority
Some new initiatives have also been taken one among which is SRP ( Senior Research Partners) for postgraduate and Phd research work starting from next session.
The Academic Council has announced that 20% of the total postgraduate and PhD students at IARI will be designated for Student Research Projects (SRPs), where they will work on research topics selected through mutual agreement.
