Egg Price Crashes due to Sluggish Demand, Shravan Festivities, and Export Drop Trigger

Decline in export of egg and demand also weakens because of Shravan

Traders in south are in panic as traders from Haryana state are supplying eggs at comparatively lower prices as the demand gets weaken because of the festive season-Shravan being going on also the demand from exports has declined.

Markets of North-East and West Bengal are receiving eggs in a large quantity of around 3-3.2 crores from smaller markets of Haryana at 4-5 paise lower. Producers of Tamil Nadu market has also cut down the prices because of competition from Hyderabad and Bangalore states.

Export trends of eggs

Exports has declined by 20-30% as compared to last month because of the onset of summer season in the Middle East which is the major importer of our country’s eggs.

Farmgate prices has fallen down from ₹5.75 on July 1 to ₹4.2 on Jul 29 as per NECC (National Egg Coordination Committee) while the production cost is in the range of ₹4.5-₹4.75. Talking about Bengaluru and Hyderabad prices has fallen down drastically selling at ₹5/egg (bulk price) also the demand is sluggish across Northern and Kerala which is further aided by festive season Shravan where people don’t consume eggs for one month. Traders can notice an upward trend may be from the next month.
