SRM College of Agriculture, T.N. is going to launch growth regulators for four crops namely okra, groundnut, urad dal and chilli.
Benefits:
Formulations are crop specific and will enhance nutrient uptake , increasing efficiency of photosynthesis, stress tolerance which ultimately helps to increase in crop quality and yield by 20-30% ,developed through collaborative research and development team. It is also going to be cost effective for farmers which they can get from various channels on which college is right now working upon.
Problems & solutions of individual crops
Okra
Okra mainly suffers from the deficiency of micronutrients like Zn, Cu, B, Mn, Fe which results in decreasing yield of the crop .
Growth promoter of okra consists of various things like antioxidants, micronutrients and growth regulators which will help in increasing yield and increase the tolerance of crop of both biotic and abiotic stress.
Chilly
In this crop problem of flower dropping and poor fruit set is the main issue besides pest and disease attack for which college has developed a tonic which has foliar application and consists of hormones and vitamins which will help in preventing the fruit and flower drop
Urud dal
Crop faces the problem of flower drop, pod setting and drought which can be solved by applying the promoter developed by the agri. college
Groundnut
Growth promoter helps in increasing the pod formation and pegging of flowers besides increasing tolerance against stress.
