Tur prices are down by 40 % as compared to last year on ample supplies
Area under tur cultivation has declined by almost 8% witnessing the shrinkage in states of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat where farmers are shifting towards crops like maize , oilseeds and cotton which provides them high remuneration.
In state like Telangana, trend is opposite witnessing the increase in area under cultivation of tur as compared to last year , 4.21 lakh hectare till 23 July’25 vs 3.65 lakh hectare July’24.
Prices and Imports trend
MSP of tur price is ₹8000/quintal while the prices hovering around is ₹5300-6700/ quintal which is very less as compared to MSP. Because of the duty free imports of tur dal till March 2026, country is witnessing large quantities of imports resulting in decline of market prices.
Normal area under cultivation of tur according to government is 44.71 lakh hectare for kharif season but this year till 25th July, area covered till now is 34.90 lakh hectare
